Data Sharing & Research Program

This page explains Research Share: what you agree to when you turn it on, what we do with the data, and the choices you have.

What Research Share is

Research Share is an optional data policy you set on an API key. Prompts and outputs from that key are stored encrypted, scrubbed for personal data and secrets, and will be used to accelerate AGI and supplied to top frontier labs for AGI purposes. In return, that key pays a lower price.

It's available on every model, closed and open-weight. The catalog shows the Research Share price next to the Private price for each model.

Where things stand today

We have not started the program's own storage: prompts and outputs from Research Share keys are not yet being kept, scrubbed and prepared for licensing. Today, turning it on changes the price that key pays and records your agreement to this page, with the version and the time. The rules below apply from the day that storage starts, and only to requests made after that day. We never use data retroactively.

Separately, and for every key, Private included, we store the content of each request and its response, encrypted, for 30 days for security, abuse prevention and debugging, then delete it. That copy is not part of this program, and it is never shared or licensed. The Privacy Policy describes it.

Who can opt in, and how

• Member and Executive: choose Private or Research Share per key, in your dashboard. Keys default to Private. You can turn Research Share off at any time.
• Guest: Research Share is a condition of the Guest tier. There is no Guest Private option. You give explicit consent at signup with a checkbox that starts unchecked, and you must be 18 or older.

What is shared

• Prompts and outputs from opted-in keys, and only for requests made after you opted in.
• Never anything from Private keys.
• Never your account details, payment details or API keys.

What we do first

• Scrub personal data and secrets (such as API keys, passwords and tokens) from prompts and outputs.
• Exclude health, financial and children's data.
• Exclude traffic from the EU/EEA and the UK.
• Exclude results grounded in a provider's search results.

How the scrubbing works

Scrubbing is automated and runs before anything is stored or shared:

• Personal data: we look for names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, government and account identifiers, payment card numbers, IP addresses and precise locations, using pattern matching and machine-learning detectors. What they find is removed or replaced with a placeholder such as [EMAIL].
• Secrets: we look for API keys, passwords, access tokens, private keys and connection strings, by their format and by the context around them, and remove them.
• Excluded content: requests that look like health, financial or children's data are left out entirely, not just scrubbed. So is traffic from the EU/EEA and the UK, which we identify by where the request comes from, and any result grounded in a provider's search results.
• Checks: people review samples of scrubbed data to measure what the detectors miss, and we improve them from what they find.

What scrubbing can miss

No automated method finds everything. Free text can identify someone in ways a detector doesn't recognize: a short story, a rare combination of details, a name inside code or a comment, or text in an image. Anything that is missed stays in the data. Because of that, buyers are bound by the restrictions below, and you should use a Private key for anything you don't want to be part of the program. If you find something that should not be in the program, email privacy@bearer.club and we will find and remove it.

Who can license it, and what they can't do

• Who: top frontier AI labs and other vetted organizations under a written data license.
• They can't: try to re-identify anyone, resell or pass it on, or use it for advertising or data brokering.
• They must: delete it when the license ends and accept audits.
• We keep a record of every license: who has the data, when, and for which models and period.

Model terms that travel with the data

Every model has terms that apply to its outputs: an open-weight model's license, or a provider's terms of service. Where those terms require attribution or pass conditions down to derived data (for example, "Built with Llama"), we give them to the research buyer with the data, for every model in it, and the buyer must follow them. For each model we keep the license or terms we rely on and the date we last checked them.

How long we keep it

• Research Share content: kept encrypted for up to 24 months after the request, then deleted. Content in a license that is still running is also deleted from our systems after that time; the buyer's copy follows the license (see above).
• Usage metadata (model, tokens, cost, latency, status and time) is kept for every key, as the Privacy Policy describes.
• Private keys: nothing is shared or licensed, ever. Their requests are covered only by the 30-day encrypted security copy described above and in the Privacy Policy.

How we protect it

• Content is encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Only named staff who need it for scrubbing, quality review or delivery can reach it, and their access is logged.
• Buyers receive data only through a secured transfer to named recipients. We never publish it.
• If we learn that shared data was exposed, we tell the people affected and the buyers who have it, as the law requires.

How to opt out and withdraw

• Member and Executive: switch the key to Private in your dashboard. It takes effect for future requests, and nothing more from that key is stored or shared.
• Guest: stop using your Guest keys, or upgrade to a paid membership and use Private keys.
• Delete what we hold: email privacy@bearer.club from your account email and tell us which key. We delete the Research Share content from it that we still hold, and answer within 45 days. Copies a buyer already received stay under that license until it ends; we can't recall them, and the buyer must delete them then.
• You can also use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, or send a Global Privacy Control signal.

Notice of Financial Incentive

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, offering a lower price in exchange for permission to use and license your data is a "financial incentive". This notice describes it.

Material terms

The price difference between Private and Research Share, as a percent of each provider's public list price:

Guest: no membership fee and open-weight models at 95% of list (5 points below list), in exchange for mandatory Research Share. There is no Guest option without Research Share; the alternative is a paid membership with Private keys. Guest usage is capped at $10,000 per calendar year.

Your alternative

You never have to share data to buy from us. Any paid membership (Member or Executive) can use Private keys, which share nothing, at the Private prices in the table. Guest is the free tier and it is funded by Research Share, so it has no Private option.

How to opt in

• Member and Executive: set a key to Research Share in your dashboard.
• Guest: tick the data-sharing consent at signup (open-weight models at 95% of list).

How to withdraw

At any time, as described in "How to opt out and withdraw" above. Withdrawal applies to future requests.

Good-faith estimate of the value of your data

We have not licensed any data yet, so there is no sales history to measure it against. Until we do, we estimate the value of the data from a key at the discount that key receives for sharing it: 5 cents for every $1.00 of list-price usage, which is $50 a month for a key that uses $1,000 of list-price usage in a month.

How we calculated it. For each membership and model type, we subtracted the Research Share percent of list price from the Private percent in the table above. For Guest, whose only price is Research Share, we subtracted it from list price. We use that difference because it is what we give up on every request to be able to use and license the data, and we believe the data is worth at least that much to us. When we have actual license revenue we will replace this estimate with one based on it and update this notice.
